Reception Held At Club, Followed By luncheon,

 

Although disappointed in not having with them today, as had been planned, Walter P Andrews of Atlanta Georgia, Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks, the members of Salisbury Lodge were honored by a visit of 2 & 1/2 hours by J.Edgar Masters of Charleroi, Pa, grand Secretary and past Grand Exalted Ruler, and F.J.S. Schreader of Alleghaney, Pa. assistant grand secretary of the order and traveling secretary to the grand exalted ruler.

the distinguished Elk visitors were met at Charlotte by Paul W. Whitlock of Salisbury lodge, deputy for the western half of North Carolina, who is accompanying them on their trip through the state.

 He spoke of the Elks national foundation for charity and welfare work and said the goal was to raise $20,000,000 in 20 years for that great work, one of the outstanding features of Elkdom. The Elks national home at Bedford, Va. was also mentioned and the fine work done there explained, also the Antlers movement, an organization within the Elks for young men between the ages of 15 and 21 years He said that last year the B. P. O E. spent more than $2,500,000 as charity work In the United States and would spend a greater amount this year.

Assistant Grand Sec Schraeder made a few remarks it which he told the Elks that their chief, Grand Exalted Ruler Andrews was recovering nicely any and hoped to soon be back in Chicago. Following the luncheon the Grand lodge officers left by automobile for Lexington where a short stop was made, then to High Point for a night meeting. tomorrow they go to Winston-salem, greensboro, durham and on thru eastern Carolina and then into Virginia.
