The beginning-Zorrian Kassidy Jones-a short life that touched so many souls

. Zorrian Kassidy was born Dec 14, 1996. He weighed 6 pounds and 8 ½ ounces. His mother, Karina, named him after seeing a shooting star late one evening while rocking in an easy chair on an outside porch. Determined that his name would be like no other, she added the Kassidy with a "K" instead of a "C".

She doted on this young baby, displaying a sense of patience, kindness, tenderness and inner strength that I've never seen in all the years that I have watched her grow from a toddler to a lovely young lady. This was a mother's love story unfolding before my eyes and it was so wonderful to play a small, but intimate role in his upbringing. As he grew, she had him out traveling early by making the rounds to her many friends and relatives. As always and like many other babies, he generally brought work to a stand still on his visits to my employ. He sure was something to behold.

Later on, he got to where he could focus his attention and eyesight a little better. Karina could get him to smile and that was so heartwarming.

By early February, he was out and about on a regular basis. Being a member of the local Elks Lodge, I invited her to our valentine's dance where most of my family would be. He was the hit of the party, being passed from one grandmother to another with all waiting to have the opportunity to hold him.

Then followed more visits and lots of photos. Life seemed wonderful for Zorrian and Karina despite her financial and paternal difficulties. She was making it through and I was real proud of her for displaying the courage I knew she had within.
